Challenge

Mountain Rose Herbs is the leading e-commerce brand in the botanical product industry. With more than 9.3 million annual visitors, their website needed modern dynamic design and capabilities to keep up with their growth and industry status.

Since May of 2021, I have worked as the lead frontend developer for Mountain Rose Herbs.  My original role was to improve upon and maintain their legacy e-commerce website.  For over two years, I redesigned and expanded their existing website, which boosted customer satisfaction and brand growth.

Despite the success of this earlier work, the legacy theme code base limited my ability to modernize many elements on the site. Driven by a commitment to remaining current, providing the best online shopping experience possible, and a desire to connect more effectively with a younger audience, we recognized the imperative for a complete website overhaul and comprehensive brand refresh.

This project began with choosing a newer, more modern BigCommerce website theme.  My task from their was to customize and build out a new website from scratch, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to better reflect their evolving business goals while remaining true to the brands legacy and values.

Goal

We did some intense market research, refined their brand message, and created a evolved look to truly showcase their identity. We also spent extensive time defining website features that would delight customers and improve functionality for online shopping with ease.

Armed with insights, we meticulously refined their brand message for authenticity and resonance. Beyond words, we embarked on a creative journey, crafting a fresh visual identity that truly showcases their unique essence. This integrated approach, blending refined messaging and a captivating visual aesthetic, empowers Mountain Rose Herbs to confidently communicate their values and engage their audience in a meaningful way.

I designed and built out the website, reusing legacy elements and features that were known to work, while adding new features, animations, and interactions that benefited the customers experience and provided new ways to shop and gain education about the brand and products.

Through months of testing, adjustments, and development we were able to launch a custom website custom tailored to this unique brand.

Result

The rebranded company experienced increased customer engagement, a boost in sales, and a stronger brand presence in the market.

The comprehensive initiative, extending beyond visual changes, resonated authentically with the audience, resulting in heightened engagement metrics and a tangible boost in sales.
